The singer was initially approached by producers eager to use his solo music in the hit show, but Macca has agreed to have a walk-on role as well
Pop legend Sir Paul McCartney has signed up to star in 1960s drama Mad Men, the Mirror can reveal.
The singer was initially approached by producers eager to use his solo music in the hit show, but following talks, Macca has agreed to have a walk-on role as well.
It’s not known what part the ex-Beatle will play.
A source said: “It’s a perfect, perfect fit.”
Mad Men chronicles the comings and goings at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City. It started in 2007 and has now run for five seasons, making stars of Jon Hamm and Christina Hendricks.
Sir Paul, meanwhile, was in Los Angeles this week promoting his new album Kisses on the Bottom, which is set to chart in the top three this weekend.
While there, flanked by his new wife Nancy and son James, he unveiled his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and said: “Way back in history, in Liverpool when we were kids, I would never have thought the day would come when I’d be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.”
He added: “I couldn’t have done it, certainly, without three boys so I want to say thanks to John, George and Ringo.
