Charlotte Edwards scored 221 runs and was dismissed once in the past seven days
England captain Charlotte Edwards has been named as the Cricket World Player Of The Week after two outstanding innings helped her side maintain a 14-match unbeaten run in New Zealand.
In the first two matches of the One-Day International series that England would sweep 3-0, Edwards scored 84 and then an unbeaten 137 in 88 balls.
Her century in the second game came in just 70 balls and set up a 59-run win in a game that was reduced to 26 overs per side.
The opening game saw New Zealand post 233 for six to set England a challenging target but Edwards led the way by making 84 in 107 balls with nine fours.
Her performance two days later was even better as she tore the New Zealand bowlers apart, carving 20 boundaries during her fifth ODI century.
England's total of 219 for six was more than enough for the victory but her dominance of the scoring was remarkable. She scored 63 percent of England's score and 65 percent of the runs scored from the bat.
Only two other players reached double figures.
Following an action-packed and entertaining week of international cricket around the world, there were several contenders but Edwards won the award for her consistent performance and the fact that as captain she led her side by example in two winning games.
Elsewhere, brilliant centuries were scored by India's Virat Kohli, Australia's David Warner, Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara while Hashim Amla, Dinesh Chandimal, David Hussey, Stafanie Tayor, Kevin Pietersen and Saeed Ajmal were among some of the players who also caught the eye.
