WAHROONGA’S Glade Oval will become a sea of pink when Kissing Point cricketers take part in Pink Stumps Day next Saturday.
Players and club supporters will wear pink to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.
Kissing Point cricket club’s Trish Lynch said Bradfield federal MP Paul Fletcher and Ku-ring-gai councillors Elaine Malicki and Tony Hall are expected along with a yet-to-be-named NSW or Australian cricket star.
“Whoever we get, we will be happy to get him and we know it will be a current player,” she said.
The oval will be decked out with pink balloons. To raise money, player’s gloves, pads and cricket stumps will be donated to a silent auction and Friends of the Glade residents group will bake cakes for a stall.
Spectators can watch Kissing Point and Asquith in the feature A-grade match. Ms Lynch said Kissing Point players have been talking about spraying their hair pink.
The McGrath Foundation was co-founded by former test cricketer Glenn McGrath after his former wife Jane’s initial recovery from breast cancer. It raises money to place breast care nurses in communities and to increase breast awareness in women.
