Rs 200 cr seized from UP liquor baron's Noida mall


New Delhi/Lucknow: The Income Tax (IT) department on Wednesday found currency notes worth Rs 200 crore in the basement of Centre Stage Mall at Sector 18, Noida, which is owned by Uttar Pradesh-based liquor baron Ponty Chadha.
Based on media reports, the IT dept is conducting simultaneous raids at the premises of Chadha in Noida, Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab ahead of the Assembly polls.
The IT officials have demanded additional security personnels for further raids. CRPF jawans have been deployed for the safety of the IT officials, sources said.
searches were related to the alleged mis-pricing of huge liquor consignments in the state and other places.
Chadha is considered to be a close aid of Chief Minister Mayawati. He has numerous dealerships, made investments in cinemas and own multiplexes.
A number of residential and official premises in Noida and Delhi were covered in the searches by a team of about 80 I-T officials, sources said.
