Kate takes to the stage. Everyone get the tissues ready
If Kate Winslet ever did an acceptance speech that didn't involve a bit of dramatic breathing/ looking overwhelmed/ good amount of cheese, we'd bewell disappointed. Which is why this morning we are feeling positively not disappointed, because Kate has delivered again. Thanks Kate Winslet.Kate won the award for Best Actress in a Mini Series for her role in Mildred Pierce. When her name was called, she took to the stage to deliver a tear-free, but pretty slushy acceptance speech where she appeared to be struggling to breathe properly. Though that might have been the stairs - we've all been there.
Firstof all she thanked the organisers of the awards for 'putting me in a category with heavyweight actresses that I am honoured to stand alongside' - despite the fact she's won two Golden Globes before, forThe Reader and Revolutionary Road so to be honest, is pretty heavyweight (in a non boxing way) herself.
Kate also said thanked producers for 'giving me this part, thank you for giving me this experience' before going on to list everyone who worked on the TV series.
Kate attended the awards with her boyfriend, the brilliantly-named Ned Rocknroll, who is Richard Branson's nephew. Despite the fact that they've been together since August last year, Kate and Ned hadn't appeared together in public before, so that was quite exciting. Ned gave her a supportive little kiss when she won her award too.
A night with Ned Rocknroll - unlikely to end in a tea and an early night, we'd imagine
Despite that, Kate didn't dedicate her award to him, but instead to her kids (er, quite right too), who she said 'light up my life'.
Kate *breathe* won *breathe* an award *BREATHE*
"I share this with my beautiful children Mia and Joe who light up my life every day," she said. "I am so proud to be their mum and I share this with them."
Bet they'd rather you shared sweets with them, since they are kids, but you know - a Golden Globe will do.
