Joey Barton: Staying at QPR, according to Fernandes and Beard
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes and chief executive Phillip Beard have rejected talk which has suggested Joey Barton could be heading for the Loftus Road exit door.
Mark Hughes' appointment has led to conjecture the Welshman is primed to stamp his mark on the club by shaking up his playing staff in the January transfer window.
It is expected QPR will spend heavily in the window in a bid to stave off the threat of the drop but that has not stopped murmurs of players heading in the opposite direction.
Fernandes and Beard, though, insist the 29-year-old will remain a QPR player as the club looks to establish itself as a top flight outfit.

Crazy

"That is complete rubbish," Fernandes told Sky Sports News when asked about the reports of Barton's possible departure.
"I am fairly new to being a chairman (but) I have seen some crazy things and this would rank as one of the crazier ones I have seen."
Beard was similarly firm on QPR's stance regarding Barton and insisted no talks have taken place over the possible sale of players.
He said: "I can categorically tell you there have been no discussions in the time I've spent with Mark or his team this week about anyone leaving.
"Barton is the captain, he came in the summer and is part of the building work we want to do. He has been fantastic in my six months at the club."
