David Cameron: 'British Film Industry Bigger Than Hollywood'

David Cameron: 'British Film Industry Bigger Than Hollywood'
David Cameron has huge plans for the British film industry and wants it  to be bigger than Hollywood. The Prime Minister thinks Britain should be producing the mega-buck blockbusters usually made Stateside and has encouraged film-makers to be more ambitious.
The 45-year-old  took time out of his busy schedule running the country today to tour the home of 'James Bond', Pinewood studios, and called for film makers to think higher and bigger with their movie making.
According to The Metro, Cameron said: “Our role, and that of the British Film Institute, should be to support the sector in becoming even more dynamic and entrepreneurial, helping UK producers to make commercially successful pictures that rival the quality and impact of the best international productions.”
The British Film Industry had a hugely successful 2011 with the independent British movie 'The King’s Speech' making over £250 million worldwide and sweeping the awards season including the Oscars with a  Best Actor award for Colin Firth.
The 45 year-old has been more vocal about the film industry recently. His remarks on the Margaret Thatcher biopic ‘Iron Lady’ caused a stir at the weekend with star Meryl Streep defending the movie after he said it should never have been made.
