Staten Island Congressional Candidate Has Hollywood History




Mark Murphy sports some serious sideburns in one role. 
Mark Murphy, who announced last week that he’d be taking on GOP Congressman Michael Grimm, has an entire set of movies and shows he’s been in, including some with distinctly retro looks.
The Staten Island Advance first noted  the Congressional candidate’s relatively sizable filmography , which stretches from 1993 to 2001. Mr. Murphy’s acting résumé is diverse enough to include the redneck-friendly The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! andSweetwater, a hippie-filled film about Woodstock.
Mr. Murphy most recently played tennis pro Jimmy Connors in When Billie Beat Bobby, a 2001 ABC docudrama about the historic 1973 “Battle of the Sexes” tennis match . At the time, the Daily News criticized  Mr. Murphy and other supporting characters for “looking and sounding nothing at all” like the actual athletes they portrayed.
