EastEnders star Pam St Clement honoured with "secret" extra scene

EastEnders will screen an extra scene after the credits tonight – as a tribute to Pat Evans. The whole of Walford will be out in force for Pat’s funeral but a major surprise is promised at the end.
The scene – filmed today – is set to feature the shock return of a former character.
A show source said: “Pat is EastEnders – she was the heart and soul of the show and bosses have pulled out all the stops for her funeral.”
Pam St Clement, who played Pat, filmed her final deathbed scenes at the end of last year.

Who will turn up?
Secrecy surrounds the identity of the returning character, although contenders must include Pat’s best friend Peggy Mitchell or her long-gone son Simon, who legged it to New Zealand more than 20 years ago.
Her favourite cabbie Ali Osman, who fled after racking up huge debts, could also return from Cyprus.

Others would have a more arduous journey – from beyond the grave. Her ex-husbands Pete Beale and Roy Evans could gatecrash the wake as ghosts. Or the spirit of her bumbling stepson Barry – who fell off a cliff – may drop in.
Pat herself could even pop up during the 40-minute tearjerker... which really would cause mourners untold grief.
