On the January 9 edition of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Edge will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year.
Does Edge deserve to be in the Hall of Fame? Yes, he absolutely deserves to be a WWE Hall of Famer.
Edge was apart of one of the greatest tag teams of all time with Christian. They put together some of the most exciting and show-stealing matches with other tag teams like the Hardy Boyz and the Dudleys.
Edge has won a total of 14 tag team championship, 12 of them being the World Tag Team Titles and the other two being the WWE Tag Team Championships.
As a singles competitor, Edge has won 17 championships in the WWE. He has won the WWE Title four times and the World Heavyweight Championship seven times, which is more than any other wrestler ever.
He also has won five Intercontinental Championships and one United States Championship. Edge is only one of two people, the other being Kurt Angle, to hold every currently active male championship in the WWE.
Along with all of his championships, Edge also won the King of the Ring tournament in 2001, the Money in the Bank ladder match in 2005, and the Royal Rumble in 2010. He is the only wrestler to win all three of these.
It is clear that Edge deserves to be in the WWE Hall of Fame. His achievements with the company are comparable to just about anybody. The issue here, is that Edge is being inducted too soon.
The WWE inducted Shawn Michaels into the Hall of Fame last year after he retired from in-ring competition a year before that. Now they are repeating that process with Edge this year.
This seems to takes away from the accomplishment a little because it feels rushed. We haven't even had time to really miss Edge as an in-ring wrestler and appreciate just how special of a superstar he truly was.
Edge is only 38 years old and has not even been retired for a year yet. When Edge is inducted on March 31, he will become the youngest superstar ever to go into the HOF.
There should be some time to reminisce about Edge's career before he gets selected for the Hall of Fame. Waiting to induct him would also allow us to move on past Edge and then revisit one of the greatest WWE wrestlers of all time's career in the future.
It takes away from the whole process that he is being inducted at the first opportunity after he retired.
One wrestler that could have been inducted  this year instead of Edge is "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Sadly, Randy Savage passed away this past May in a car accident. It would have been fitting to remember and honor Savage's work in the company by finally inducting him into the Hall of Fame.
Having "Macho Man" headline this years Hall of Fame ceremonies would be the best time to pay the respect that he deserves.
It would be more special to wait and honor Edge's career by inducting him in in 2013 or even later.
