Spring's trends have sprung! All the style winners from last nights Critics Choice Awards...
The 2012 17th Annual Critics Choice Awards kicked off in Los Angeles last night and, as you’d expect, some awards were won.
Namely, the 3AM-y awards ™ which took place in this very office, during which the winners and the losers of last night’s Critics Choice were counted, verified and placed below. The style elite didn’t disappoint either, showcasing some of spring/summer 2012’s hottest trends.
Want to stay streaks ahead of the rest? Then come this way…oh, and a do a vote for you (the critic) choice below:
2012 Critics Choice 3-AM-y Awards ™
BEST ‘We’re well ahead of the trends’ TREND: Sugary pastels
Spring has sprung, thanks in part to Elizabeth Olsen (in Emilio Pucci); Elle Fanning (in Rodarte); Ahna O’Reilly (in Balenciaga) and Jessica Chastain (in Balenciaga) who all slung on so hot right now soft sunny shades. It’s also thanks, in part, to the big fashion drop which saw SS12 wares hit the shops this week.

But it’s mainly thanks to the sun, which almost put it’s hat on (hip, hip, hip) to-day. Elle Fanning tops the trend count in her frothy yellow and mint mix Rodarte dress that wouldn’t look amiss skipping through a meadow, amongst some cows – and on Elle Fanning. Luckily it also works on red carpets too.

Elle Fanning won our hearts in stunning summery Rodarte
BEST ‘Trend, schmend – we prefer the classics’ TREND: Monochrome
If classic styling’s more your (black and white) bag then look to Michelle (Chanel) Williams and Tilda Swinton in monochromes plus Charlize Theron and Kirsten Dunst - who both played it safe but chic in classic black.

BEST HAIR: Kirsten Dunst
She wore Christian Dior (see above) but it’s her mussed up side ponytail and bubblegum pink lipstick that’s had us all a-flutter. Straight to the top of the beauty class, Dunst.

BEST DETAILS: Charlize Theron
Charlize may have stuck to an LBD (Long Black Dress) but she’s nodding to those subtler trends like a pro from the Braidy Bunch up ‘do to scalloped trim on her Azzedine Alaia dress. Scalloping ahead of the trends, Charlize proves that good style is all in the details.

BEST STYLE RISK: Diane Kruger
Diane never fails to disappoint when it comes to style whether she’s treading the red carpet or the sidewalk. Her latest Prada offering may not be her finest work to date, it’s a borderline fashion boob in places (boob places) but it’s a brave nod to the Sports Luxe trend and the fluro trend - and for that reason alone she’s a fashion champion.

Diane Kruger nodded to the Sports Luxe trend in Prada but did she pull it off? (so to speak)
Winner! BEST DRESSED:
Emma Stone at the Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards (Pic: Getty Images)
Emma Stone won Best Dressed on the night in Jason Wu
Can we get a WU WU for Emma Stone in JASON WU (woo)!? Actress Emma Stone can do no wrong right now. She’s sticking close to her favourite fern green hue (she wore the same shade by Gucci at the PCA’s on Wednesday night too) but when the shade suits her Titian-red hair (NB big trend) so perfectly, why alter it…
MOST ‘meh’ Award: Chloe Moretz in Chanel

Okay she’s only 14 and has at least 100% nicer clothes than us (we were lucky if we were kitted out in C&A at 14) but this latest look just doesn’t rock our style boat enough to be a Best Dressed contender. Then again, none of the stars slipped up last night so be default Chloe and her Chanel are still red carpet winners.
Don’t agree with us? That is GOOD. Let us know who your Best Dressed critical choice contender is by voting below:
